In 2000, All-American lacrosse player Scott Hochstadt packed his car, drove west, and changed the game forever. Raised in Maryland, where lacrosse was a family tradition, Scott faced learning disabilities, financial hardship, and a system stacked against him. But in Southern California, he found both opportunity and resistance: a sport unknown, a culture skeptical, and no roadmap to follow. Through backyard clinics, grassroots leagues, and the creation of West Coast Stars and City Stars, Scott gave thousands of kids a new identity and a new sport to call their own. Along the way, he helped reshape the professional game, inspired the creation of the Premier Lacrosse League, and launched Legends, a sports brand born from the same fire. This is the story of how one player’s risk became a movement — and how lacrosse found a new home where no one thought it belonged.
