In “Home”, a contained, experimental short film, a lonely and paranoid Indonesian expat is forced to look inward while rehearsing an acting monologue that is too close to home – or lack thereof. “Home” tells a story of isolation and loss, highlighting the yearning for the familiarity of the abandoned home life in order to pursue a singular goal. The audition materials for Lana, our protagonist and aspiring actor, serves as a mirror to her past. Although we experience only a chunk of time with her, we feel the ever presence of guilt, shame, and solitariness that’s been building for some time.
